Silkscreened Ceramic Decals

This type of transfer yields beautiful colours which give a fine layer. Companies applying this transfer type know exactly what chemicals their onglazes contain because they mix their colours themselves. The disadvantage is that when you want a custom design, it is very expensive. A minimum of 100 sheets is common practice. Companies who make this often have standard designs called stock designs and those you can order in sheet form. I use stock designs which I cut and punch in personalised designs.

There are many companies that produce decals. Even your local ceramic material supplier will carry them. There is one website in english which I found particulary useful: www.ceramicdecals.org. There you can find a lot of information and on the link-page companies that produce decals. What i have been using are waterslide decals that fire at 760-780 Celsius.
